Associate of Applied Science in High Performance Automotive Technology
2022 - 2025
The automotive industry has never simply been an industry I hoped to work in. It has become the environment I have built my education, professional experience, personal projects, friendships, community, and future around.

Growing up, I always learned best by doing, so I knew I needed a university that focused on hands-on experience and real-world application. That is exactly what I found at the University of Northwestern Ohio.

Watching my dad build hot rods and custom vehicles inspired me to get my first project car at 14, the iconic Topaz Miata, a 1995 Mazda Miata. I have been working to transform it into a purpose-built race car for autocross and road course racing ever since. UNOH’s High Performance Motorsports Technology program has given me invaluable technical knowledge that I have been able to apply directly to my own vehicles while also preparing me for a future career in the automotive industry.

Combining my technical degree with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a Marketing concentration has allowed me to develop a well-rounded understanding of the automotive industry from both sides. My technical education has given me hands-on knowledge of automotive systems in both street and track-focused vehicles, while my business education has taught me how to communicate product value, understand consumers, develop marketing strategies, and approach the business side of the industry.

Together, these programs have taught me how to combine technical knowledge and hands-on experience with marketing and business expertise. That combination gives me a unique perspective when working with automotive products, brands, customers, and enthusiasts because I understand both the product itself and the people it is being marketed to.

The instructors at UNOH bring years of industry knowledge and real-world experience into both programs. They are there inside and outside of the classroom, offering guidance and support not only for academic success, but also for students’ personal passions and future careers. Learning through hands-on projects and simulated real-world applications has helped prepare me to enter the automotive industry with practical experience and confidence.

Moving to Ohio to attend UNOH was one of the most important decisions I have made, and I would not trade the experience for the world. I am incredibly grateful for everything the university, my professors, and my experiences here have taught me. I will be proud to carry the title of UNOH alumna throughout my career, and I believe the education and opportunities I received here have prepared me to pursue not only my professional goals, but the dreams I have built my future around.

UNOH Media Appearances

During my time at UNOH, I had the opportunity to be involved in several exciting pieces of content for the university. These videos are a great way to learn more about my authentic experience as a student, the opportunities I found at UNOH, and the school as a whole.

The Real Racers series highlights first-hand stories from select UNOH students and alumni who are turning their passion for motorsports into professional careers. I was selected to be featured in the series to share how my lifelong passion for cars and how that led me to UNOH and shaped the career path I am building in the automotive industry today. In the episode, I talk about growing up around hot rods and motorsports, my experience in the High Performance program, the community I found at UNOH, and how combining technical automotive knowledge with a marketing education has prepared me to pursue a future in motorsports marketing and automotive journalism.

I was also featured in UNOH’s episode of The College Tour, a series designed to help prospective students make more informed college decisions by hearing directly from current students about academics, campus life, housing, internships, student organizations, career opportunities, and more. I represented the College of Applied Technologies and shared my experience as a High Performance Motorsports student. At the time of filming, I was planning to continue through UNOH’s 2+2 pathway, which allows students from the technical associate degree programs to transition into the College of Business and pursue a bachelor’s degree. Since the episode was filmed, I have completed that transition and am now approaching graduation with my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a Marketing concentration.

Lastly, I had the opportunity to appear as a guest on Life in Racers Lane, UNOH’s podcast. The UNOH AMA president and I sat down to talk about my experience studying in both the College of Applied Technologies and the College of Business as I approached graduation. We discussed the similarities and differences between the two sides of the university, the knowledge and experience I gained from each program, and had plenty of fun along the way.

All three of these features offer a different look into my experience at UNOH and the path I have taken through both the technical and business sides of the university. If you are interested in learning more about my journey or about UNOH itself, I highly recommend checking them out below.
